What is the NHAF?
You're probably here because you received a donation. The Nazarene Human Arts Fund, or NHAF, was established to financially encourage independent artists during this new unpredictable era of machine competition that is currently rewriting human involvement in creativity. This fund is the personal project of Louka Ménard Blondin.
How does the NHAF choose artists?
The NHAF prefers artists who produce artwork that isn't sensitive in nature (e.g., pornographic, activist, violent, or controversial), and that exclusively make use of manual creative tooling (e.g., ink, pastels, paint) over automated creative tooling (e.g., avatar generators à la PicCrew, generative artificial intelligence).
Otherwise, there is no stringent process for evaluating artists, even though some may be passed over entirely at NHAF's discretion.
What is the endgoal of the NHAF?
The Nazarene Human Arts Fund hopes to aggregate enough funds for the creation of economic lifelines that would allow independent human artists to pursue their creative work without having to worry about employment. It is functionally similar to the historical system of patronage but does not aim to intervene in any creative processes.
The fund is currently privately and personally funded and will remain as such until its formal organization as a non-profit is complete, after which external donations from third-parties will be accepted. Fund distribution is currently done through the private channels of recipients and will be changed later.
